Written as part of my International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate, this paper applies various mathematical concepts to a real-world problem of my own interest.
This investigation explores using many parallel curves to approximate a more complicated curve. This is achieved by using multiple quadratic curves regressed from points on the original.
Tools from basic calculus are used extensively, such as the first and second derivatives, as well as the path-length integral
